Discovering Data and Surnames

Today we have been exploring Data and Information Handling as part of our wider Victorian topic -whilst also looking at the importance of Data Protection.

The children conducted their own primary research, and then using census records from Scotland’s People, we were able to use secondary research sources to find common surnames from 1891 that are still in use by families in the area today.

Tomorrow we are going to start looking at the different ways we can present this data as understandable information to share with the rest of the school.
