Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

Mr Thomson hosted a Harry Potter themed activity for our World Book Day celebrations. The children picked on the themes (genres) that come from the books written by J.K. Rowling; who we discovered is the first billionaire author, as well as the classroom which was decorated to reflect an old castle scene! The children came up with themes and genres that included "dark", "creepy", “old”, "scary", "Halloween", "magical", "witchcraft" and "spooky".

In this activity the children had two focuses; one was working with expression and creating their own 'Wickedly Wizard Faces' and the second was using digital technologies to re-invent the Cloak of Invisibility. The children also had a variety of props to role play with, including the Elder Wand, a writing quill with parchment and the Sorting Hat.

The children participated amazingly and it was so nice to see different children from across the stages interact, learn and play together for the first time in some instances. A really fun and enjoyable day had by all.
